I believe that effective therapy is based on a trusting, empathic relationship.  It is my goal to help you realize what your "blind spots" are: those behaviors, feelings, attitudes that you are not aware of that may be hindering your functioning and well-being.  In addition to developing a better understanding of how your past affects your present feelings and behaviors-- therapy has to focus on diminishing your current distress and discomfort "in the now".  It is important that a therapist be able to help manage the discomfort that often occurs when long- avoided feelings and behaviors begin to be examined. I utilize a flexible, interactive approach that takes into account your needs and goals.
