I have been in private practice since 1996, after completing a postgraduate training program in Analytic Psychotherapy at the Postgraduate Center for Mental Health in New York City. I completed my Masters in Social Work at New York University in 1993. I have also received training in cognitive therapy. Since 1987 I have worked in both inpatient and outpatient social service, addiction treatment and mental health settings helping individuals, couples and families cope with HIV illness, addiction and mental illness, as well as the psychological problems of coping with medical illness. I have lectured in New York City psychiatric teaching hospitals to mental health professionals about the psychological and emotional problems of gay men and treating individuals and couples affected by sexual compulsion/addiction. I have supervised and trained other mental health professionals and been involved in supervising the work of other therapists. My training, personal growth, and own therapy are ongoing.
